Arresting Areca Palms
$70.00 – $2,180.00
The fronds of areca palms (“uh-REEK-uh”) flutter in the breeze. They animate the tradewinds, for a time, before they bronze and fall to earth.
Description
The graceful fronds of areca palms — it’s the first introduction for many to the idea of more than one type of palm tree. It grows in bushy clumps, is relatively fast-growing, and can make a nice privacy screen. In exchange, it will want to nibble away at the lawn. A row of them will drop fronds so routinely you will make a place near the trash pickup to place them for removal.
The fronds are shed naturally as each palm grows. They may yellow a bit, but lean toward brown and, if the light is just right, glow in quiet tones of bronze. Here the photographer worked to capture and recreate for the viewer the romance and mystery of areca palms. Never mind the dry, gray ones at the curb.
