Beach moonflowers, they’re called. If you can tear your eyes away from the vast, blue expanse of water, they’re there. Just greeting the day.
Description
We had gone walkabout. Intending to take an island bus to a nearby beach, we missed the unfamiliar connection and walked instead. Not bad, just about 8,000 steps. We never found the t’ai chi class we were seeking out but there was plenty to make that early morning a treat.
These are called beach moonflowers. It’s hard to discern all their color in person, faced with the ocean and brilliant sunlight reflecting off the sugar-soft sand seems to blast them into white. But color is there and, while this photographer did not add anything, the faint blushes were brought out with care and respect for the originals.
