In his work as a tech-journalist-editor, the photographer was asked to accompany a group that had been invited to lecture at universities in China. They managed to include Taiwan (ROC), Hong Kong, and mainland China (PRC), a kind of Asia-traveler trifecta.

If there was a time of day when the streets and sidewalks emptied, we never saw it. Business and socializing, gossip, rest breaks, and family time were eked out in calmer eddies among the foot traffic. It all happened on the pavement — nothing remarkable, just life.
