It might be an extreme example. But when you’ve camped for weeks in a leaky boat in an industrial harbor, even a bilge pump looks beautiful. Damn beautiful.

This image was headed toward our “Underpinnings” collection when fate intervened with a course correction in the direction of Pride culture. Mis-filed originals, downsampled survivors processed with artificial intelligence and further massaged — it culminated in one of those, “Hey, what if…” moments after half a decade of pondering.

In the unlikeliest places… does the magic comes from the inside, or has it been applied? Maybe that doesn’t matter. And, of course, it’s both.
