Umbrella plants cast shade, but who knew they keep a watch on the sky?

We grew up in colder climes with these, or their relatives, doing fine in pots. In later, warmer locations, we grew accustomed to them thriving and in dense landscaping clumps. But we had never noticed the interesting view from above until this.

No drones, no ladders, and (thankfully) no injuries were involved in taking this photo.
